During the building of the pipeline tunnel from Loch Treig to Fort William, electricity was supplied from a power station sited at Monessie Gorge. The power station and remains of its water supply pipe can be found alongside the gorge. The course of a narrow gauge railway employed in the construction of the power station can also be traced.
